It would not install saying that I already had an Acronis product, the cloud product that had expired. OK, let's uninstall it. Nope, Acronis uninstall said it was already gone. Nope, it's still there OK, google "How do I uninstall Acronis " At least I now know this has happened to others I edit the registry and then try a fresh install from CD.

The install procedure sat at the Status time-bar for over an hour with no progress. Perhaps theres a bad copy on CD. So I download from the website. It does the same thing. Perhaps, I think, I need to rerun the script and remove all vestiges of Acronis again , no matter how small. Nope, Nada, no glory, no relief.

I'm a retired IT professional. I've been putzing around with Microsoft since damn near day 1. I have never experienced a product that I couldn't remove, replace, or reinstall. Until now. I'm irritated that they disabled local backups when I didn't opt to renew cloud coverage. I'm stunned that they have such a complex, and hidden, script to remove the product and edit the Registry.

Seriously, have customers get into the Registry?!? What are you thinking?????? What could go wrong????????? I'd like to install this and move on.

But, I feel that I have wasted money on a non-functional product. I'm going to try and return this, now opened, CD envelope. What are the odds this is gonna work out in my favor?
